About me

Join me as I attempt to up skill my way through the torturous world of tech bro banter, whilst sulkily staring into another empty gin glass …

I’ve had a varied career in the science industry, having started out as an R&D Scientist, followed by Research Technician, before leaving the lab and trying my hand out as a Conference Producer.

I then entered the education profession as a Chemistry Teacher, which I left after 12 years to start a post grad in web development and visual design.

This new adventure into all things tech-related has been incredibly challenging, but the mistakes I’ve made were totally avoidable if I had simply focussed on leveraging my soft skills from the very beginning.

Instead, I chose to mindlessly code away in the vain attempt of securing any kind of tech job that I probably never really wanted in the first place.

Hard skills aren’t as important as you think, so I strongly recommend celebrating your strengths whilst using them to craft your own career roadmap instead of sheepishly following someone else’s.

So if you’re in your 40s and changing career, why not dive into my spectacular failure of a life as I navigate tech and the potential jobs they come with.
